Life Insurance Needs Calculator
A personal note
I’ve spent 40 years helping families in New Orleans and across the South answer this exact question, and here’s what I’ve learned: most people either guess or avoid it altogether. 🤔
I built this calculator so you can get a real starting number on your own time, with no appointment and no pressure. It takes about five minutes. You’ll see your estimate right here on the page, along with a plain-English breakdown of what drove it.
"What Happens After You Get Your Number"
1. Your estimate appears instantly. You’ll see your estimated coverage need, the coverage you already have, and the gap between them, plus how each piece was calculated.
2. I’ll email you a copy within one business day. It comes from me personally, with a note on anything in your answers worth a closer look. ✉️
3. That’s it — unless you want more. No one will cold-call you. If you’d like to talk it through, call or text me at (504) 300-8207 or book a Zoom or phone consultation at onestopfinancialgroup.net/contact. Cost-free, stress-free, hassle-free. 🤝
Questions People Ask About the Calculator
Is this a quote?
No. It’s an educational estimate of how much coverage your household may need. It shows a coverage amount, not a price, and it isn’t an offer of insurance. Actual coverage, pricing and availability depend on underwriting and vary by carrier and state.
Why does it ask for ranges instead of exact numbers?
Ranges keep it quick and let you answer without pulling out statements. For each range I use a planning value close to the middle, and I round the results to the nearest $10,000 so the number doesn’t look more precise than it is. If you want to sharpen it, a short conversation with me is the next step.
Will someone call me after I use it?
Not unless you ask. The phone number is optional, and we don’t cold-call. You’ll see your estimate on the page, and I’ll email you a copy within one business day. If you’d like to talk it through, call or text me at (504) 300-8207 or book a no-obligation consultation HERE.
What doesn't the calculator include?
It leaves out three things that can change your number quite a bit: Social Security survivor benefits, the specific terms of your workplace policy, and conversion deadlines on any term coverage you own. I go over all three in a free consultation.
I have life insurance through work. How does that count?
If you say yes, the calculator counts it at one times your income. That’s a common employer benefit level, but yours may be higher or lower. Keep in mind that workplace coverage is usually tied to your job, so it may not follow you if you leave.
What if I don't live in one of your states?
The calculator still works, and you’re welcome to use it. I’m licensed in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma and Virginia, so if you live somewhere else I’m still glad to talk through your estimate.
What happens to my information?
It’s used to send you your estimate, and it’s never sold or shared. You can read the details in our Privacy Policy.
